This page will eventually be used for detailed information on swimming pool
components.
We are currently using sand for above-ground pool bottoms, although, as with
many things, above-ground pools are becoming more sophisticated. Its not unheard
of to see a vermiculite (hard) bottom with a main (bottom) drain,
underwater lights, an extra return and a pool cleaner fitting in a larger above
ground pool! We can do all of this and more!! Solar and gas heating systems are
available, as are slides and decks.
All of our in-ground pools get vermiculite bottoms. Vermiculite is a light
weight, semi resilient concrete. We mix it on the job as we need it while
installing the bottom on a new pool. Generally, the bottom remains good for the
life of the pool, weathering all liner replacements with minor patching.
